Industrial Waste Tipping Skips and Material Handling

Tipping Skips are designed for collecting, transporting and discharging waste, scrap and bulk materials within industrial, commercial and construction environments.

They help reduce manual handling and improve the movement of materials across production areas, waste collection points and large disposal containers.

Available in a variety of sizes, load ratings and operational styles to accommodate the different materials and workplace environments, they provide efficient material handling solutions for factories, warehouses, engineering workshops, recycling facilities, construction sites, and all other spaces that require efficient handling of waste and loose materials.

How to Choose the Right Tipping Skip

The materials being collected, the size and weight of each load, and the intended method of transport and discharge will dictate which Tipping Skip is right for you.

Light or small materials often require a different Tipping Skip than heavy scrap, rubble, or industrial waste. Consider the dimensions and the available workplace space, in addition to the skip’s capacity and safe working load.

When a Tipping Skip will be handled by a Forklift Truck or other piece of lifting equipment, you must ensure the skip is designed for handling by that specific machine. This includes the overall load weight, fork pocket dimensions and discharge height.

As part of your evaluation, you should note the following:

  • The type of material and its density
  • The required capacity and the safe working load
  • The loading method for the skip
  • The method and the location for the discharge of the skip contents
  • The available means for the movement of the skip
  • The requirement for accessories such as lids or castors

The lifting equipment should be able to lift the skip and its contents. All equipment should be used following the manufacturers’ instructions and the relevant procedures for your place of work.

Waste Management at the Workplace Made Easy

The use of industrial tipping skips makes waste collection and material handling a lot easier and more organised.

With the skips positioned adjacent to the work area, waste can be collected where it is generated and then transported to a centralised waste disposal or recycling location. This helps keep the work area free of waste and reduces the need to carry material that can be heavy and unwieldy.

Tipping skips are designed for a variety of workplace waste including packaging waste, production offcuts, scrap metal, wood, swarf, rubble and other waste depending on the specification and load capacity.
